Well, after playing around with the new version (wich I admit is drop dead gorgeous), the situation seems unchanged: links to pages shared on Twitter point to their Zootool watch page (the new short domain only adds a layer of redirection). Is that by design, or something that will be fixed?

Zootool might be the closest a web application has ever come to a native (Mac) app, and most certainly merits recognition as a technological tour de force, but it would be a pity to see it’s potential wasted on a walled garden type site.
