Inappropriate? We will be adding these services back in to Nambu, but for the immediate future they are not a priority, honestly.

any idea on a timetable, because sharing pictures from my laptop with my friend without pic.im support is very hard -
This is a few weeks out still. -
Inappropriate? No identi.ca support is a deal breaker for me. It should really be easy, since identi.ca and other laconinca/status.net servers have a Twitter compatible API. It's probably just a handfull of lines of code.
When you do get around to putting it back in, let me know.
I’m sad

There are other additions that are far more important to the software overall. We need to nail Twitter 100% before moving horizontally to other services.
Also, it is not as simple as you make out. Identi.ca is missing aspects of the Twitter API, and will soon be further behind with the new tweet APIs. And all the many "Twitter compatible" services mirror the API to different degrees and at different paces. -
See, there's your problem: moving horizontally should always be #1 priority in life. -
there are people that are #twitterless, and thus can't use (but would love to use) nambu. please consider adding identi.ca back, it worked like a charm in the first versions.

Inappropriate?Ping.fm support is a big deal breaker for me as well. I use it to update all my networks and without it, I'm just half baked :-(
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate?Yeah, same here. Ping is essential. I love "improved" products that remove standard features that were available in past versions. I created an entire workflow to update Facebook, FB Fan Pages, and about 30 other social networking sites using Nambu to update Ping.
This whole fiasco is a clusterf*ck. Were you guys not aware that Apple was releasing Snow Leopard? It was announced in February. How long has it been since there's been a working version of Nambu now?
I’m frustrated
-
Totally fair. If you abandoned Nambu I would totally understand. Ping.fm is not a priority for us at this moment in time. -
Inappropriate?Actually I'am still using 1.2.1 under snow leopard, having only little problems (sometimes nambu crashes), so that's my tip until nambu 1.9 is ready.
-
Inappropriate?Same here, identica is really important for me. Otherwise thanks for the great work on Nambu.
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate?Add another voice to the Identica chorus. Identica support was the whole reason I started using Nambu in the first place.
-
Fair enough. But the Identi.ca folks dont even respond to our emails or show up for scheduled conference calls with them. We will do Identi.ca eventually but it is not a priority.
We will be adding Ping.fm soon and you will be able to push to Identi.ca from within Nambu that way to begin with. Identi.ca timelines will have to wait for now. We would have had Ping.fm back in already if they offered JSON in their API like every other API in the world. Having to deal with XML for one service pushed them down the list a little bit. And for the record, multiple emails to Ping.fm were also not answered. -
Inappropriate? While this, itself, opens a more complex pack of design worms, something worth considering: a plugin API.
Yes, it's probably a little late (or perhaps a little early) to start planning something like that now, but if you published a formal protocol and build instructions for turning it into a framework that your bundle could dynamically load, Identica support would be available in the next few days, for those that wanted it.
Something to think about, anyway. Microblogging needs a nicely extensible client. Maybe I've just given myself something to implement? -
Yeah go for it. We discussed the idea of a published plugin architecture and decided against it. -
Yeah, I can understand why- I've built a few plugin architectures, and it's an extreme pain. Your focus on UI is probably well placed. -
Inappropriate?Eric, I'm the developer relations manager for StatusNet, Inc. I'd be glad to talk with you about supporting Identi.ca and StatusNet (zach@status.net). If there's anything I can do to help, please let me know. We have a Twitter-compatible API, so hopefully that will make it easier to support our platform in addition to Twitter.
Thanks! -
Thanks for posting here but the issue with Identi.ca/Status.net is not the API.
