Nambu Cannot Verify Twitter Account
Downloaded and installed the new Beta 2.0. I went to add my Twitter account and it can not be verified. Have deleted it several times to make sure I was typing it correctly.

Inappropriate?Try deleting all the preferences in ~/Library/Preferences or ~/Library/Application Support/Nambu
-
Inappropriate? This is very likely an inability to reach Twitter, or Nambu is getting a broken or failed response from Twitter. This happens all the time with Twitter, and there is very little we can do about it, other than reporting this more accurately, which we will do.

Eric,
Is Nambu logging those errors? Is there anyway we can verify which error twitter is returning?
I deleted ~/Library/Preferences/com.nambu.nambu and ~/Library/Application Support/Nambu but still, Nambu is not being able to verify my account (Tweetie can, for example) -
I am having the same issue and as others have said, no other clients are having problems. -
It logs these errors in debug versions we run locally, but it does not make them available in release versions. We will likely be updating this to just tell you Nambu could not verify, and ask to try again or just proceed if what you entered is correct. -
Inappropriate?I installed the Nambu beta at home and at work. At home I can connect to Twitter just fine (except when Twitter hiccups), but I have the same problem as the original poster when I use Nambu at work. I had been able to access Twitter with earlier versions of Nambu and I can connect to Twitter with other clients (e.g., Tweetie). At work I'm behind a proxy and wonder if Nambu isn't working properly with the proxy server.
-
Inappropriate?I think this may be because Nambu is not using the system set proxy. I tried the beta at work - same issue after deleting the prefs. Installed old version after deleting prefs again and it works fine.
-
Inappropriate?Note: Same issue happened for me, first attempt. Retry was successful.

Inappropriate? Thanks all. Deleting the Library files i think did it.
-
Inappropriate?I deleted my plist and app support files before even trying to run 1.9.0.8b the first time and I still get this error. Incidentally, I've been getting this same error in every version since 1.2. Other Twitter clients are able to connect to my account from the same locations, so I doubt it's simply a generic network problem reaching Twitter.
I'm on an MBP with 10.5.8.
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate?I had this on one account. I retried a couple of times and had success.
I’m confident
-
Inappropriate?Having the exact same problem, I ran it without removing the Preferences .com file and the Library.. then i removed them + tried to add the twitter account, same problem.....
-
Inappropriate?Worth pointing out that I get the exact same error message trying to add my tr.im account. I was at least able to download and install the latest beta, 1.9.0.9b through the app, but no other network connectivity is apparent.
-
Inappropriate?Still having the problem after 3 updates.
I can't even delete my account once created.
Keep trying the deletion of preferences but without any luck.
Any idea on what's going?
-
Inappropriate?Yeah same issue here, and I can't seem to download the old version from the website, always points me to beta....this is a sad day. Please fix this ASAP :)
I’m just disappointed!!
-
May not be the most recent pre-1.9 version, but I still had the URL to this build in my download history:

Inappropriate?Still having the same problem a week later with the latest version. Have yet to be able to try the beta because of this. About to call it quits on Nambu. This is not an isolated problem and there is no support from the company so far. Blaming it on Twitter does not make sense since we can all reach twitter with other apps. Is there some way we need to give access to Nambu so it can authenticate with Twitter?
I’m frustrated
-
We will not be blaming this on Twitter much longer, but fixing it soon to just accept the account if the user confirms. -
Inappropriate? Also have the same problem... It's not twitter, it's Nambu, other clients working fine... Will test the latest update at home where I'm not behind a proxy, but the previous version didn't work there or here at work...
I tried deleting the preferences file and the Nambu directory as recommended by DreadedKilla but it didn't help...
Hope this can be fixed, have been trying other clients but yet to find something I like as much as Nambu...
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate?Nothing new for me on the latest update. Is there anything that we can provide to the Nambu team for debugging?
Anybody out there?
+1 @john -
I'm happy to help with providing any debug info or run any specific tests required as well... -
Yes we will bump this up in priority. -
Inappropriate?just downloaded. cannot verify creds on Twitter... also stuck when trying to delete account and re-add to attempt verification again...

Cannot connect?.

Inappropriate?Just got the latest update, deleted all the library files and it still will not connect.
The old version of Nambu works, as does all the other twitter clients I have here.
Version 1.9.1.2b (327)
Is anyone actually reading this forum ?
I’m frustrated

I am very active on this forum. I posted above that we have no ideas about why this is happening to a few people. We have never seen it ourselves and that makes it hard to track down. I have installed a few proxies on my machine and Nambu goes through them just fine so it is not, in theory. I simply dont know at this point. -
Inappropriate?Thanks Eric.
If you want to email me direct, perhaps I can run a version with debugging enabled so you can get some more information. Happy to help solve this...
And sorry for sounding so annoyed - I do like Nambu more than other clients I have :-) -
Inappropriate?Still no love from tonight's release (1.9.1.4b), but the behavior's slightly different. It now shows "Adding and verifying your account..." dialog with progress spinner then shows an "OK" button without updating the message. Clicking OK brings the Add dialog back and submitting it again does the same except the message reads "Verifying your account..." instead.
The above behavior is exactly the same for adding either a Twitter account or a Tr.im account. The only difference is that the main app window's status bar shows "Could not Authenticate with Twitter" for the one and "Server error" for the other. In the case of the Tr.im account it also briefly shows "tr.im - porter >> (null)" in the status bar before the error message.
That's about all the detail I can provide.

This would be the same problems yes. We have not worked on them yet, and nothing about changes here was in the release notes. We simply have not gotten to it. -
Thanks, Eric. Some of the items in the notes seemed a little vague and with the account deletion I thought there might be a chance.
Mostly I'm antsy because Nambu's the only Twitter client I've found that works the way I want a Twitter client to work but I can't use it now. I've been making do with Syrinx in the meantime, but it's just not the same. -
Inappropriate?Same here, but I did a saved search in the app after adding the account and this does return some tweets.
-
Yes, search does appear to work. Likely because it uses the public, unauthenticated interface. -
...and I am using tweetie, but that does not work how *I* want it either ! -
Inappropriate?Do any of you have "Little Snitch" running? Mine issues were caused by Little Snitch FW going a little nuts, downloaded the latest version of the FW app and now all is working fine!! Like the new version :)
I’m content!
-
Nope, not here. -
Inappropriate? Finally works for me with the newest build after deleting the preferences. Can finally test
