Mark as Read on Scroll Option Broken

in 1.9.0.5b (185), I have this issue. I checked off "Mark messages as read on scroll" and exited preferences. When I received new Tweets and scrolled them off the screen, they never cleared.

Also having this problem in Version 1.9.0.5b (185).

Quick Workaround: After you are done reading your tweets, hit Cmd+K to mark all as read. This can be easier than clicking on each tweet individually

I have this problem as well in Version 1.9.0.6b (194) and when you get 100-200 messages in at a time, it can be a real problem. Especially when it scrolls clear back to the top when new messages come in. I have started scrolling with the arrow buttons, as that selects each message thereby marking it read, but it is very time consuming. We need this and the ability to return to the last read message when returning to Nambu.

In version 2.0b, this preference is a tad unpredictable. If I get a new tweet, I'm left at the top of my last seen tweet, because Nambu has no preference for auto-scrolling to the top. So, I can get individual posts to be marked as seen by scrolling down and back up to them. However, the Home button is still white as if there are posts unseen. I can't figure out yet whether Home becoming gray is a time-based or scroll distance-based thing.

I've noticed this also in the last few versions also, I miss the instant mark as read system, now I'm seeing replies as unread until I scroll up and down on them a few times and click them.

With the new release, you appear to have lost the WONDERFUL scrolling to "mark as read" feature. There are a few separate issues with this:


a) The number count on the folder (either the one I am currently in, OR any other folder that also contains the same tweet) does NOT change until I leave the folder. And even then, sometimes it doesn't always seems accurate (but the odd error is not a real problem).


b) It used to be that you considered the "middle of the list / screen" as the "current" position, so that the tweets would "grey out" as they pass the middle. But now, they grey out as soon as they appear at the top of the page... making them VERY hard to read. I loved the way they would grey in the middle, so I could focus my eyes higher on the list (and read several at once even)!


c) I scroll with a mouse wheel (or a magic mouse, or with the multi-touch pad). Previously (before the updated design a few weeks ago), when I got to the top of the page, if I continued to "scroll" (even though the page couldn't move any more) the items at the top would then get marked as read as well. Now, I know the issue above makes that, ironically, not an issue, but if a page has new tweets but not enough to scroll, I can't mark them as read by scrolling. And if you fix item b) above, then this will be a usability issue again!


Once again, I'm really happy to help in any way if I can with your testing or troubleshooting of these issues.

I can no longer scroll in a screen that isn't full of message to mark them as read. They only get marked if they scroll off the screen. I now have to click on the mark all as read button instead

Eric... I hope you know just how much I like Nambu and how much I appreciate your efforts at producing such a great twitter app!


But I do want to bring up an older topic, the functionality of which became degraded a few months ago, and which is still degraded in the latest beta. And that is Mark as Read on Scroll.


It's a great feature, but previously


1) Tweets were marked as read about halfway down the screen on scroll. Now it seems they only get marked a few centimetres after they have scrolled down.


2) When one continued to scroll having reached the top (two fingers touchpad or wheel mouse), even though there were still unread tweets above the centreline, they would then get marked as read.


Is there any chance of getting this back? I know I can click on the mark all read button, but it was so much easier the other way.

P.S. An interesting thing today... a timeline (group actually) with 16 tweets... and no matter if I scrolled to top or bottom... the three tweets in the middle could never get marked as read!!!

Thank you for acknowledging this. As long as I know you hare working on it, I am more than happy! But just one thing...

This issue is marked in GetSatisfaction as "solved." Are you able to change the status? I am nervous that you will forget about the issue (assuming you are using Get Satisfaction as your bug / feature list!!!
