Switch to Larger buttons for Timeline View
I always found the Nambu toolbar button quirky. That secondary toolbar is weird, and the button are too smal and unintuitive. The two fields are also weird. Here are some suggestions to the layout that would make the whole experience more intuitive. (I should mention that 1. I am a UI designer and 2. I stay in the Folder view)

Inappropriate?I appreciate the time to do that mockup, and love suggestions like this. That toolbar for timelines has been an item on debate on this end. It is not a perfect way to address the problem of users that don't use hotkeys for these common actions.
We could eliminate the first three because they are part of context menu, and reply will soon be a double-click, in the next update. The issue is those last three and filter box.
Your mockup removes it entirely, which would require a dialogue box to activate that feature (not great), which is really a search of the open timeline. Quite useful I think. The other features are then lost, and lots of users wont know they even exist. We have them there to make them aware of them more than anything.
Problem is they wont be applicable to every node that we have planned. They are context sensitive to the content of the timeline view. If you move them to the main toolbar they appear and disappear all the time, which is not really a good idea for the top toolbar which should stay constant.
We plan to improve those buttons and colour them, but beyond that I think they stay unless a more elegant solution is found, or we just drop the filter box feature.

this is one of the best points

Inappropriate?I still hesitate to move those three mark function icons to the top toolbar. We are planning to make the search input field smarter with recent terms and some other options. This is in the queue already.
That is an interesting idea for how to handle the more advanced Twitter search options, but it does not allow you to enter more one Twitter search adjustment at a time. Rerunning the search on each change to the select list if you intend to make more changes is not great.
Also, if we move to support advanced options for Twitter search we want to do them all. That means flipping the timeline view or doing a popup. Not sure yet if the select list idea to the left of the search title will work very well to meet the larger goal.
