Add Support for Laconi.ca Instances
Add Laconi.ca support
It shouldn't be too much of a problem since Laconi.ca supports the Twitter protocol, but it would be very useful.

The company has not planned to implement this.
The best point from the company

At this point this is no longer planned. Identi.ca never gets back to us regarding API improvements, and their micro-blogging actually is confusing to present in comparison to Twitter's. For now, adding Identi.ca is on hold indefinitely.

Inappropriate?I was about to post the same suggestion. I'm currently using the 2.0 private beta, and I'd be so excited to test laconi.ca and report any issues back to you guys. In fact, I'm quite tired of Adobe Air on my Mac.
I’m peachy
-
Inappropriate? We will do this, but have no timeline for it at this point.

Inappropriate?Status.net support (formerly Laconica) would be a great reason for me to switch to Nambu for OSX from Tweetie. Nambu for the iPhone supports Status.net instances very well.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?send a message to twitter and get the camera-button with options 'take a picture' or 'select existing picture'.
but: the camera-button and the option to send a picture to identi.ca is missing.
This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled
send picture to identi.ca - option missing.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate? If this were a Java App :-) basic support for status.net would be (when using twitter4j) only changing the base url to http://laconi.ca/api for timelines and search.
Btw: that should possibly not hardcoded, but the user should be able to use other status.net services too, where the URL is different again (e.g. at my employer we have an internal test instance at http:// 1.2.3.4/test/api
I’m confident
-
Inappropriate?Yep, since status.net instances support the Twitter protocol, all you need is to configure the URL. In my case I'm not interested in the main status.net site, but in our own internal laconi.ca/status.net instance.

Darn.. how about supporting Twitter proxies? :) -
What is a Twitter proxy? -
Something like birdnest: http://nest.appspot.com/
Basically, I'm hoping that you will allow users to change the Twitter api endpoint to whatever they want, that way we can unofficially use StatusNet with Nambu. -
Yeah I can safely say we would not likely add support for anything like this. Without a proper plugin architecture it is not something we would release to users. It is also has very niche appeal and it not worth the effort from a business point of view. -
Eric: please allow (as super-advanced option) to set the endpoint information on a twitter account. Default is twitter of course. But those of us who want to talk to status.net instances could do so. It may not be the best user experience as you say that the status.net api is strange. But it would allow to follow the timeline and post to status.net instances. At least for those basics, the api seems close enough, as with twitter4j on java, it is possible to just swap the endpoint to laconi.ca/api and follow the timeline / post dents. Twitteriffic on iPhone also allows to use laconica via this advanced option->set endpoint trick. -
Inappropriate?I guess this is when I uninstall Nambu and stop recommending it. Too bad, it's a great Twitter client but for me and my company it's useless without even minimal Status.net support. Good-bye.

Perhaps complain to status.net directly. I have asked and asked about API methods for UX and how to deal with confusion with their Groups and Lists features in comparison to Twitter. -
Inappropriate?Hey Eric,
Zach here: I'm the developer relations manager for StatusNet. If you have any questions of concerns about our API, please feel free to contact me.
