Add Ability to Cut & Paste Tweet Text
I like to cut and paste tweets. I used to be able to swipe the text and then command-c to copy, switch to the new app and control-v to paste. This does not work. Version 1.9.0.7b (197) - oddly, I could swipe the version from the 'about' screen no problem ;)

Inappropriate? It appears that selecting text to copy or drag is possible, but the selected text color is the same as the background color for the generic tweet. I only noticed it when I accidentally selected some text in one of my own tweets, which has a different background color. Until then I thought that it was not possible to select text. Please make the selected text more visible. (Version 1.9.0.5b (185))

Selected text is same color as background.
I’m slightly annoyed

Inappropriate?We will be fixing this.

Inappropriate? For a long while, I have thought Nambu's tweets do not allow text selection; actually, they do, although unlucky colour scheme implementation hides that fact pretty well. However, even with selection functional, default text actions usually provided by the context menu of Cocoa applications are sorely missing, namely Search with Google, Look up in Dictionary, or the ability to copy links; under Snow Leopard, this also precludes contextual service display, which is a pity.

Adding default OS X text functions to tweets.
I’m hopeful
-
I would love, love, love to have those context-menu items, especially Search with Google and copying links. -
Inappropriate?I'm not 100% sure that we are talking about the same thing. What I *want* to do is to be able to swipe the text from a tweet already posted and command-c to copy it and then command-v to paste it somewhere else (another app). I am still unable to do this. I know it's technically possible because the the program I use (SY*****X) allows that no problems.
I’m confused at the answers

Inappropriate?I'm with Rick. Want to be able to copy paste as he describes.
-
Inappropriate?@Rick we are not, exactly, but the admins seem to think so, hence they merged our separate topics. Let's hope they will fix both together, too.
-
I lumped them together because the issue is very closely related, and we get to dealing with this, we will deal with of this at the same time. -
Inappropriate? In 1.9.1.7b (440) the behavior has gotten worse. It used to be that you could select text with the mouse (though the selection was either invisible or barely visible) and then drag the selected text to another window. Now you can't even do that.
Copy and paste is basic Mac functionality and this is a really serious problem.
I’m frustrated
-
Nope, still not working. -
Not sure why you think this has been "fixed" anyway. It was not mentioned in the release notes for this update, nor did I update this thread item. We are still considering what to do here. -
Inappropriate? This was in the problem category, and turned into an idea. It is a problem, for 1.2 allowed you to do so (copy+paste). May look minor, but when you want to share a link from somebody's tweet to somewhere else (i.e. a blog, a IM message or something, you have to make some workarounds, like choosing RT the message and copping from your unsent tweet. Still the only reason I haven't dropped the 1.2 for the 1.9.x for once and for all, since on every other aspects the beta is way better, but I do lots of copy pasting.
I’m confident
-
This was moved because it was not a bug or a problem per se, but a feature request. We will be adding it soon, in the next round of improvements for the next update or the update right after. -
Inappropriate?Eric, I'd say it's a very necessary feature. :)
If I haven't said it yet, let me just say now that I greatly appreciate being a part of the Nambu beta, and it's been a very enlightening process. Helping make the product better is its own reward.
Keep on keepin on. :)
I’m in beta, and I like it.
-
Thanks. It definitely a long road. -
Inappropriate? It frequently frustrates me that I can't copy text from tweets. I work around this by using re-tweet, then copy, which is a PITA, but there's a problem- I can't re-tweet my own tweets!

I'd love to have copy/paste for tweets!.

this is one of the best points

Inappropriate? At first I'd say "why would I need to copy+paste something I already said?".
Then I saw why this is one of the best points (this is why I marked as that.
Say you tweet a link on a context. Say you want to DM this link on a totally different context to someone else. You'll have to go to the page, copy, re-shorten the link, and send the DM saying whatever you were going to say that was different from your original tweet.
I’m still happy I'm part of a software that's evolving everyday.
-
Yeah we will improving taking links and forwarding them, DMing them, etc. -
Inappropriate?Having complete and total access to our 140 characters of old-school command-line twitter text is required. All the bells and whistles in the world wont cover for lacking in the text editing department.
I’m confident

Inappropriate?Copy/paste should have been standard from the get go! What if I want to copy and paste into my email or another app? There's no way to do that clearly right now! Blatant oversite, otherwise, I like the app over Tweetie
